Why Your Website Gets Traffic but No Leads
Diagnose tracking gaps, irrelevant traffic, unclear offers, trust problems and broken enquiry handoffs in a useful order.

Traffic without enquiries is a symptom, not a diagnosis. Before redesigning the homepage, determine whether people are arriving for the right reason, whether the offer is clear and whether the business can actually receive the enquiries already being attempted.
First confirm the measurement
Complete a test enquiry on the live site using an authorised, clearly identified test record. Check the visible confirmation, destination inbox or CRM and analytics event. A button click may be recorded even when delivery fails. Conversely, genuine enquiries can arrive through phone or email without a tracked form event.
Review who is visiting
Inspect relevant landing pages and search queries where data is available. An educational article may attract people researching a concept rather than choosing a supplier. That is not automatically wasted traffic, but its next step should match the reader's intent. Segment informational and service-focused journeys before judging one overall conversion rate.
Check offer clarity and evidence
Can the visitor tell what you deliver, who it fits and what the first conversation involves? Replace unsupported superiority claims with a clear scope and a useful process explanation. Show real evidence where available; do not fabricate testimonials to solve a trust problem.
Remove contact friction
Test mobile layouts, field labels, error recovery and alternate contact methods. Explain why a field is needed. Avoid requiring a detailed project specification before a prospect can ask a reasonable question. If a form opens an email app, make that behaviour explicit.
Inspect the business handoff
An enquiry is only useful if an owner receives it and knows what to do. Check spam folders, failed integrations, unassigned CRM records and response expectations. Improving the website cannot repair a follow-up process nobody owns.
Choose the next intervention
| Finding | Sensible first response |
|---|---|
| Delivery fails | Repair and verify the handoff |
| Audience is irrelevant | Revisit targeting and page intent |
| Offer is unclear | Clarify scope, fit and next step |
| Users abandon a difficult form | Test simpler accessible completion |
| Leads arrive but go unanswered | Assign ownership and follow-up rules |
Work from evidence and address one demonstrable bottleneck. Conversion optimisation can help after you know which outcome and audience you are trying to improve.
